Little Decorator

One day Ollie spent the morning "decorating" his room. He took all of his diapers (still wearing them at night) and Lily's diapers and draped them around his things in his room. He then took his stuffed animals and placed them ceremoniously in different locations. The finishing touch was the blue blanket sticking out of the dresser drawer. He was very proud of his work and wanted a picture of it. I would have to say that decorating his way is definitely strange.

Little Librarian

Both of my kids love books! One day Lily woke up from her nap and before I could get her Ollie ran into her room and was talking with her. She stopped crying so I decided to seize the rare opportunity to ignore them. When I checked on them this is what I found. Ollie "the librarian" had been giving Lily books in her crib. They were both happy and so was I. :)

Where's Mom?

Where's Mom while Papa is holding BOTH children?

Taking the picture of course. :)

Heaven Is... (part 2)

Ollie's Heaven- making a mess- the bigger the better.

Mom's Heaven- a child who cleans up their messes by themselves. Were not quite there yet but getting close. :) He did help me clean up this and I did encourage him making this art.

Heaven Is...

Lily's Heaven- peanut butter sandwiches and bananas that she can hold and eat all by herself.
Mom's Heaven- watching my child find such joy.

January Lowlights

So, I'm pretty sure that lowlights is not a real word but I did a January highlights and now it's time to explain why I haven't blogged for a while. One word summation would be Lily. That sweet little darling who came into our lives almost 16 months ago.
A few days after the Ginos family left Lily started to get teeth. We thought we would be excited for her getting teeth but with it came the acid poop. I'm good about changing my kids frequently during the day and especially if they are poopy but I am no match for acid poop. Needless to say, she got a horrible diaper rash. It was so bad that she was bleeding. So I spent those January days sitting next to Lily who was sitting on a blue chuck pad. Everytime she pooped (she also had diarrhea) I rushed her into the bathroom and rinsed off her little bum. Then I dried her off and cleaned up the acid poop and put her on another blue chuck pad and we would start the process over. I tried everything under the sun for the rash and nothing helped so... after many frusterating days I got on the friendly world wide web and researched home remedies for diaper rash. I made my own butt cream and started doing salt baths. The result = no more rash, at least for a few days until she started to get the bottom teeth. She now has four cute little teeth and she worked hard to get each one. This whole ordeal is summed up nicely in one little paragraph but for us it was TWO weeks.
During the past month Lily also got her first ear infection. So that was another fun experience of a fussy kid.
Lily also had her 15 month check-up and vaccinations. She's one of those kids that vaccinations make super irritable. Ollie was always fine with immunizations but Lily- she gets a fever and is GRUMPY!!
So... I spent most of the past month trying to take care of a grumpy toddler and an energetic preschooler.

January Highlight

The highlight for January was the Ginos family coming to visit us from Lubbock. They are a great family and we had a lot of fun with them. We spent one day at the zoo and the boys just had fun climbing so we decided to spend the next day at the park. We love the Ginos family because they are similar to our family. We had a lot of great night talks and heard all about their funny adventures around the country.

Playing at the park.

Ollie and Brayden slept in Ollie's room in his tent. They had so much fun. The first night I had to go in at 11:00 and tell them it was time for bed. Then at 11:30 I went in and made Ollie move into his bed so they would stop talking. We found out the next morning that Ollie was doing all the talking while Brayden was trying to sleep. Every night they got better about sharing a room until the third night they both just fell right asleep, as EXHAUSTED children do.

Posing for the camera at the zoo. As you can see, Ollie was in heaven. :)

Lily and Ashlynn.

Ollie and Brayden.

Ollie has also informed me that Brayden is now an old friend and a new friend. Old friend because he hadn't seen him for a while and new because he came to visit. He then asked me if Luke and Anya could be new friends as well. :)

January Blogging

January Posts-
So we had a crazy month and I haven't taken the time to post anything. Spencer is going to take the kids to the park (it's 70 outside today) and I'm going to try to catch ya'll up on our lives. :) I'm also going to do the dishes, clean up the house, and clean the tub that Lily pooped in. There's nothing quite like being a mom. :)
