Kid Quotes...

So my kids are always saying the funniest things. Here's a few quotes from them. (yes, Lily talks great now so there are some from her too)

This morning Spencer was telling me about his dream last night. Ollie then pipes up and says, "Last night I dreamed I was eating a marshmallow and meat. When I woke up this morning my pillow and monkey were gone." He said all of this with a straight face. Funny joke.

Ollie (said while pretending to eat Lily) "Lily's my M&M"
Mom "Why do you say that?"
Ollie "Because I like her as much as I like chocolate."

Lily (said while crawling into Ollie's little tent) "I go house."
Mom "Oh, are you going into the house? This house is called a tent."
Lily (with a look like a light bulb was turning on, and pointing at the tent walls) "Oh, one, two, TEN!!"

The other day Lily got in trouble for something (I don't even remember what). She threw herself down on the floor and started kicking and screaming. Then she stopped screaming and yelled, "I want Papa!" (I guess Papa is nicer than MomMom.) I just replied that Papa was at work so she just crawled into her room and played by herself.

Lily had a speech-therapy evaluation. The lady came into our house and we were introducing ourselves. Lily piped up and said, "I'm Lily." The lady laughed and said she didn't think that Lily would need speech therapy, which she doesn't. Hooray for one less appointment. :)

The End

Ollie and Madi.

Uncle Rich reading a book about Africa. Ollie now wants to move to Africa to see a real elephant and lion in the wild, just like Uncle Rich. Mom, however, says that Africa is not a good idea.

Lily wearing one of Madi's hats.

Drew, Hyrum, and Ollie. Ollie loved to follow these guys around and do what they were doing. He really enjoyed watching them play Risk. He also was able to see them play at a chello recital. He was very impressed with their playing.

Playing with cousins in the basement.

Lily with some of the Saunders.

The little boy that Lily is looking at is her 2 1/2 year old cousin Caleb. For some reason (unknown to me) his family calls him Bubby. Bubby loved Lily. He was always trying to carry her places and always wanted to play with her. He made a big impression on her because now when she is playing with her phone she calls Bubby. The converstaion goes like this, "Ello Bubby. Dis is Wiwy. I love you. bye bye."

So... Here's the last of the Utah pictures. I know it's taken me forever to get them all posted. I took about 200 pictures so just be glad that I'm not posting all of them. :)

Children's Museum

We had a lot of fun at the children's museum. We met my sister, Lara, and my sister-in-law, Jen, there. The kids all had a lot of fun playing. I love the children's museum because it has a lot of imaginative toys.

Ollie and Madi cooking.

Ollie riding a horse.

Allora and Madi driving a car. Notice-- in the backseat of the car is a doll stroller. Allora found a doll and she carried it with her everywhere. Once she put it down and another kid took it and she was upset until she found another one. She was the perfect little mommy, she even gave the doll a bath in the water area.

Lily riding a swan or "duck" as she called it.

Madi and Lily having lunch.

Date with Grandpa

Ollie was able to go on a few dates with Grandpa. One day they went swimming and another time they went canoeing. Ollie had a lot of fun having Grandpa all to himself but he was not happy about me taking a picture of it. Ollie also went on several dates with Grandma but no pictures of that, sorry.

Aunt Lizzy

Does anyone think Lily looks like her Aunt Lizzy? Both of our children look like Spencer's family. :)

Temple Square

A visit to Salt Lake would not be complete with out a visit to Temple Square. It is such a beautiful peaceful place. We enjoyed being able to walk through the gardens and the visitor centers.

Ollie loved the many fountains.

Our family with the Christus statue.

Cook Out

While in Utah we went up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Ollie was super excited about seeing the mountains. He really wanted to have a fire and roast hot dogs and marshmellows. He also wanted to see Gnomes. He is really into the whole Gnome thing right now so my Mom checked him out a book from the library about Gnomes. My sister-in-law (Jen) also lent us a movie about Gnomes. We really talked the whole thing up before going up in the mountains. (A side note: Gnomes are a Beck family tradition. Anytime we went camping or hiking as children we would find Gnome candy. It was so magical to me that we've continued the tradition with our children.)

Eating roasted marshmellows.

A Gnome house. It had two beds with pillows, a toilet with toilet paper, and a table with plates. Out front was a beautiful flower garden. The kids had fun finding the house but of course, the candy and cookies were there favorite part.

Looking around for Gnome cookies hanging on the trees.

A Gnome toilet.

Allora loved the orange candy.

Our fire to quickly cook lunch before it rained again. :)

Timpanogous Cave

During our wonderful Utah vacation we were able to hike up to Timpanogous Cave. It's a 1.5 mile hike each way. Ollie climbed it all by himself, with a little grumbling. His cousin, Madi, climbed the whole way without grumbling. Ollie was very excited to be in the mountains. We had told him all about the gnomes so he was pleasantly surprised when we found gnome candy on the trail. The cave was awesome. If you have never been there, you need to go. It's actually three caves that are connected (by man) and you get to see all the cool cave formations. It's amazing to think that the formations are made by water over millions of years. I guess slow and steady is the point there. :)
They have a rule that you cannot take strollers on the trail so dear Spencer carried Lily the whole way. Thanks honey for indulging me in seeing the cave!

Grandma Pino's Birthday

Every year on my Grandma's birthday the family has a party for her. Her children and her grandchildren and her great grandchildren all try to come. Since we live so far away we haven't been for several years. This summer we were there for it and had a great time seeing everyone. We miss that we don't get to see extended family very often. These are just a few pictures of the event (Spencer let our neice Anne (age 12) have our camera and we had tons and tons of pictures from the party including several of flowers and people's houses?!?!?)

Four generations of girls.

Many of the great grandchildren.

A favorite game... attacking Uncle Nate.

Temple Open House

We had the wonderful opportunity to attent the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House. It's a new temple that hasn't been dedicated yet so the kids were able to go through it and see it. It was very beautiful. I'm thankful we were able to see it and show our children. The temple has many blessings.
We went with Grandma Beck and met Grandma Stirland, Daniel and Shelly's family, and Aunt Lizzy.

Ollie, Abby, and Sam

The group (minus Aunt Lizzy)
One thing I wish... I wish we had been able to spend more time with Abby and Sam. Abby is on year round school so she was still in school. We did get to see them a few times.

Wheeler Farm

One day we visited Wheeler Farm. The kids had fun seeing all the animals, going on a tractor ride, and having a picnic. If was fun to have Grandma Beck come with us and meet Grandma Pino there.

Ollie, Lily, Grandma Beck, and Great Grandma Pino

The tractor pulled a wagon and the kids enjoyed the ride.

Look at this giant pig. It has huge. The kids enjoyed touching the animals.

Aquarium

We visited the new Aquarium in Sandy. We met my sister, Lara, there. My mom was also there. They had all sort of fish. They had bat rays in a shallow pool that you could touch. They had snakes and frogs. We had a lot of fun. We went one of the days that it was raining. :)

They had an octopus and it was all spread out on it's tank so you could see the tentacles very well.

Posing for the camera with some fish.

Lily and Spencer at the bat ray pool. Lily was not at all nervous about sticking her hand into the water. Her arms were too short to touch the rays. Ollie, on the other hand, was very afraid of touching the bat rays. He would get all upset anytime we tried to get him to touch them. We finally got him to touch one of the tails (after Grandma promised him some ice cream if he would touch one).

Clockwise: Madi, Spencer, Lily, Ollie, Grandma Beck

Silly faces.

When we were leaving it was raining so Ollie walked Madi to the car with the umbrella. What a gentleman.

Utah Vacation

We had a glorious three week vacation to Utah! We had so much fun seeing family and friends. We saw most of our family more than once! It was nice to destress right after our move. Over the next few days I'll be posting some of the pictures so you can enjoy our fun with us. :)

Here are some pictures of the "beach". My parents live in a planned community called Daybreak. There is a man made lake with a sandy area. Before we left for Utah Ollie was talking all about the beach. He loves the sand and water. Because it's so close to where we were staying we got to go several times (when it wasn't raining, which it did every day for two weeks).

Lily took a little getting used to the sand and water. After she got warmed up to the idea she had fun.

My sister, Amy, and kids met us at the beach a few times. Ollie really liked doing anything that Drew (age 11) and Hyrum (age 8) were doing. We also got to visit the Saunders family on their farm but I forgot to take my camera that day. Ollie enjoyed seeing their goats and chickens. One of the goats head butted him and he's been head butting people ever since. He thinks if it's okay for goats, it's okay for him--- mom has other ideas.

ollie splashing Drew.

Lily crawling in the sand.

Ollie- notice the Oquirrh mountains in the background. We dearly miss the mountains!
